Curiosity

So, if you haven't figured out, I'm a pretty curious person.  I look at my blog stats fairly regularly.  I don't think I'm obsessive about it because I have no delusions of my blog becoming anything thing like those "famous" blogs out there.  But I do find my stats interesting and here's why....you knew I'd give you the reason...I find it so interesting where it is being read.  By that, I don't mean where as in the house, on a boat, in car....I mean the countries.....
This here is my all time map...most of my readers are in America and that makes total sense to me since I am an American blogger....but seriously, look what else has color....Russia, India, France....what?
And this month, there has been a great deal of activity in the Philippines, Argentina and Brazil.  Should I add a translator widget?
Just this week, people in the Ukraine and Spain have decided to visit...Cool!  Why?

I think, for the most part, I lead a pretty normal - if not boring - life. So I can't imagine what could possibly be so interesting...but I wonder about that with readers here in the States.  Please don't get me wrong, I LOVE that you come visit and leave me comments (which I absolutely adore).  I've gained so much from these bloggy friendships - support, caring, commiseration, acknowledgement....it's awesome. But it really does baffle me.

So where are your visitors from? Do they leave you comments? There are several of you that I would love to actually meet, so how many of you out there have actually met any of your blog friends?  I'm just curious :)

  1. Stats are not something I have ever looked at so I went and checked mine out and they were very interesting. I have been getting a lot of visitors from the Czech Republic and France, Russia and Brazil ?! Is this thing really accurate? No, I have never met a blogger in person, but I feel like I know so many and consider so many of you my dear friends. My children think it's funny, but I don't think one can understand unless they blog you know?

  2. I regularly look at my stats too! My top three are Canada, USA and United Kingdom... which the majority of my comments come from. Then there's India, Pakistan, Singapore, Philippines and Russia... I don't know if I get very many comments from those countries.

Sometimes I have seen a country listed that I didn't even know existed! Then I Google it and freak out that someone from that place looked at my blog! Yup, epic geek moment.

I love how blogging makes our world so much smaller and more intimate. Such a blessing!

  3. I'm behind in my blog commenting! First, I'm glad you are not in prison. :-) Second, I also love checking my visitors.. you should get the flag counter, it tells you which countries your visitors are coming from! I've met one of my blog friends in "real life" - Gracie, I blogged about it, of course. I know 2 of our blog friends who are even meeting up in a tropical place for several days of having fun. Luckys! I actually have thought of several of us that I'd like to meet up with somewhere for a little vacay. Wouldn't that be fun? ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  4. Hi Melissa! I peeked in on my stats after reading about it on another blog. I was baffled to see that I had readers from so many other areas in the world. I'm not sure how accurate some of this info is, but they are getting the info from somewhere! I think that this part of technology is really amazing.... the ability to form friendships or gain inspiration from thousands of miles away. So cool!! It has surely been a histroy refresher looking at our globe at home or when I Google the location and find out where, exactly, it is. I have a few people who have commented from other countries, which I have found out by visiting their blogs. I blog for the fun of it and the creative outlet... not thinking about who will be reading. It's a plus when a find a comment. But what is amazing is how many actual VIEWS blogs get, even when people don't comment. This "blog world" is fascinating!

  5. I checked them every so often and think it is really cool to see so many different countries showing up. Who knows if they are really accurate...my top are Canada, the US, the UK, Netherlands, Spain, Austraila and then there are many other countries. It is pretty cool. Most of my comments come from people in Canada and the US, guess the other countries are just reading....

I have never met a fellow blogger in person, but have a little list of those I would love to meet one day...who knows, it just might happen.

  6. I have no idea where my visitors are from, I know I have quite a few that don't leave comments, because it couldn't be the some few that do leave a comment visiting that often in one day :)
Don't know how to get that map thingy that you have and my stats just show that x amount of people have visited in any one day.
Oh such good news getting your case dismissed, and rightly so.
    xx Sandi

  7. Melissa, I'm going to have to check out that map. Don't know how to do it, but I'll figure it out. I do know that I have a couple of random "Like" button pressers from places like South Africa, which is always interesting.

BTW, I'm also glad you're not in jail. Like I always say (not really), any day is a good day when you're not in jail.
