Last night I was trying to pick out some music and Number One Son suggested that I type in a particular band into Pandora. I try to be open minded about music. I understand that my taste in music and his don't always jive, and that's OK. Needless to say, this was one of those times. Three songs in and my work addled brain and nerves just couldn't handle it. I started looking for something else and he asked that I "hold on." I looked at him pleadingly and asked just what was he going to play. He told me not to worry, that he was going to play something from "my time." What?!
I waited with some trepidation as to what he thought was music from "my time." and what I got was...

ReplyDeleteI love music from the 40's thru the 70's., but the 70's are my favorite time period. Styx was always at the top of my list and I want them played at my funeral.But then there is Kansas, Journey, Boston, the Eagles....!
My husband loves their music! The older we get the more our music sounds wonderful :)

I love the power of music. From my time - well I do love a flashback to birthday parties as a child at the roller skating rink with Boy George and Roxette. Although I have much stronger memories of my dad playing his favourites: Simon and Garfunkel, Bob Marley, and Neil Young.
ReplyDeleteThat is so funny! We had a church youth group years and years and years ago.....and said something about the Beatles, and were met with total blank stares. Then one guy popped up with....wasn't that Paul McCartney's old group??? Gotta love it!
ReplyDeletePandora is awesome! I listen while at work. We listen to a lot of 80's tunes in our house. The kids are really into 90's music lately from listening to the XM radio in the car. I like almost every type. When I'm alone I enjoy Norah Jones and Adele (not a favorite of the boys!). Grew up listening to Carole King on my parents record player... still have it and listen to it.

ReplyDeleteI love Hall & Oates! The kids always say that they can tell if a song is from the 80s or 90s... two of my programmed stations are 80s and 90s songs.
ReplyDeleteThat is great! Andrew's youngest sister told me one time (before the new 90210 came out) that the TV show The OC was the 90210 of her generation. She's only about 12 years younger than me. I almost slapped her! LOL!

Haha I had to ask my mom who these guys were LOL She saw them in concert when she was about to graudate from high school! BTW Sarah Smile was her fav song of theirs! Me? Evenings are full of such a variety: The Beatles, The Grass Roots, Christian rock, a little country, Classical, Raffi (a blast from *my* childhood) Bunny knows some of the words to several Beatles songs!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! What a fun post! Whenever I hear the grunge bands from the early nineties that came out of Seattle, I am instantly transported back to high school... Usually my teenager looks at me like I am CRAZY when I start belting out lyrics to songs she's never even heard of. BUT!! Glee has really helped her learn some classics, so that's a lot of fun!
