Sweet Moment

I don't normally post pictures of other people's children, but this one is partly mine in that he is my nephew...and he's with my son...and I think it is possibly one of the sweetest pictures ever. So here you go...enjoy....
Try not to let that "Awwww!" slip out.  I dare you.  Can't stop it, can you? Makes your heart melt just a little doesn't it?  It also makes a Mama so proud to see this sweet, mature side of my teenage son who will sit in a restaurant and help keep his three year old cousin occupied while we wait for dinner.  Just one of many moments that made my vacation special.

Hi Honey!

I'm home!  I hope everyone is doing well.  I'm finding it very difficult to get back into the groove of everyday life.  We spent the last week at Ocean Isle Beach with family and it was wonderful! The weather was HOT, HOT, HOT and the humidity was so thick that you walked out the door and wanted to take a shower immediately.  But it was so worth it.

Look at those crazy boys! I love that they can still be silly.
A little more serious now. Quite good looking if I do say so myself!
Here's we all are.  Again, silly boys :)

We spent a great deal of time at the pool or on the beach and I've come back a little tired but rejuvenated.  Not quite ready to take on the world but feeling a lot closer than I was before. Lots more pictures to come, I just have to get them off the camera and finish unpacking and doing laundry....sigh...back to life as I know it!

Beachy

Hello all! Just a quick note to say all is well and my holiday has been brilliant so far. I've been visiting, but for some reason, I'm having issues leaving comments. So I'm not ignoring you my friends and will be back in full force soon!

Holiday!

Hello all! Hope you are doing well!  Just wanted to stop in and let you know that I'll be back in a week or so.  I'm taking a much needed holiday right now, but I promise to be back with wonderful things to show and share. I jokingly told a friend that I was only talking to people who's names appear on bottles....Johnny Walker, Jim Beam, Jose Cuervo...but please know that is not the case and I will continue to pop in and visit everyone while I'm on holiday. Hope you are all enjoying yourselves!

I've Got Mail! July's Show and Tell

So I've decided to combine two tasks into one.   And not because I'm lazy (even though I'm feeling a bit lazy), but because they seem to work together perfectly.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I love getting mail.  Email, snail mail, it doesn't matter which.  I just love that little jolt of happiness knowing that I've been on some one's mind enough that they decided to let me know. I think that's part of the reason I love blogging. It makes me feel special and we all need to feel special every once in a while. I remember when I was younger and my Nanny would call me and tell me she had just mailed me a letter.  I would run to the mail box everyday with anticipation.  I think she is part of the reason why I love it so much. What does all this rambling mean, you ask? I received a lovely package in the mail this week!
It came all the way from Australia and contained several lovely items.
This amazing magazine.
A gorgeous handcrafted card.
And a really sweet letter.

(It also had a beautiful little pillow in it to embellish, but you don't get to see it until I decide what I'm going to do with it.)

The magazine is an Australian magazine that has some beautiful patterns in it.  I'm definitely need to improve my knitting skills because there are some items that I'm wanting to make.
Like this gorgeous sweater.  I'm not sure if I'm ready to try this one yet or not. I'm thinking that there could be a knit along in my future...we'll see what the gift giver thinks since she likes this sweater as well.
There were also some wonderful articles about various types of yarns.  The colors are just amazing and I think I'm becoming a bit envious of yarn that is available in Australia and New Zealand.

Now, you ask, who did I get this lovely package from?  My lovely friend Sandi. It all started because she accidentally purchased a magazine she already had...How many of you out there have done that? Show of hands please....mine is up there too, so don't feel bad. Anyway, instead of taking the magazine back, she had a drawing on her blog for a give away and I was the lucky recipient. How cool is that?  Then she threw a few extras in there!

Sandi is one of the first people I "met" while blogging and she's this month's Show and Tell. We both started blogging about the same time and I've enjoyed sharing this journey with her.  She is a very lovely, talented knitter.
Look how cute this little dress is!  If you go to Sandi's blog, you will see it modeled. It is absolutely adorable.
She's taught herself how to crochet and she's currently working on a granny blanket that is going to be gorgeous! She also made this delightful little hat.

Not only does Sandi knit and crochet, but she makes beautiful cards, journals and book marks.

These are just a couple of examples.

If you get a chance, go pop over and visit.  I think she's one of the little hidden gems out there.  She has a wonderful sense of humor and always an encouraging word.  She has definitely enriched my life with her posts, comments and emails.

Legal Jargon - Disclaimer - the pictures above are from Sandi's Blog.  They are solely her work, her photography and her property.  I am not claiming them as my own in any way, shape or form cause I ain't no thief.  Also, Sandi does know me, but this is not a paid endorsement. I'm just sharing the love.  Does that take care of all the legal stuff? Thank you for your time!

PS.  Thank you so much for the wonderful package full of goodies Sandi!  It is greatly appreciated and made my day, week!!!  Lots of hugs coming your way!

Life With Car Guy

I don't know how many of you live with a "handy" person, but I'm here to tell you that it has it's ups and downs.  The upside is that Car Guy can fix/build just about anything I need.  And in this economic downtime, that is a HUGE plus.  We aren't destitute, but we sure aren't rolling in the money.  Like most everyone else right now, things are tight.  So it truly is wonderful that he can fix things, like the broken water hose under the sink from a couple of weeks ago. He can also fix the car, which is wonderful as that can get expensive.

Well, here's the downside of living with a handy person.  He is working on a new project, sort of.  I don't know how many of you remember this picture or this post...

This is a 1972 Porsche 914. We've had this car for a couple of years now and we've really enjoyed it. But the time has come to start the restoration.  So far, no money has been spent - yea! - but he's at the tedious, take everything apart stage.

As most of you might have guessed, I'm not much of a grease monkey. So this is all Car Guy's deal, possibly with some help from the Boys...the jury's still out on that, we'll see. In the grand scheme of things, you're probably wondering how this affects  me, if at all, and why I'm even bringing it up.  Well, this is the floor in my den....

Those are car parts.  They are sitting on the carpet right next to the door to the garage.  Fortunately, they are clean, freshly painted, dry and totally restored car parts - which is the only reason that they are sitting on the carpet.  When we first got married, I told Car Guy that I didn't want car parts residing in the house.  I told him this because, when he and his brother lived together a million years ago, they had a car engine in the kitchen. As you can guess, not what I want in my kitchen. Something about food and motors just don't go together in preparation, call me crazy.

This is our garage.  See that big red thing?  That's his sanding/bead blast cabinet.  That's where he cleaned said car parts before they came to reside on my carpet.  It you look to the left, near the lawn mower, you'll see something hanging from a bungee cord....

Here, you can see some more.  They get bead blasted, washed, painted and hung to dry.  Once they are done, they move inside for a brief life of relative luxury on the carpet.  I'm not complaining. Although you really have to pay attention when walking in the garage so you don't clunk your head.  But I'm not complaining.

However,  I will complain vehemently if he tries to bring this into the house after he bead blasts, washes and paints it.....

That's not going to happen....I'm just saying!

Have a wonderful 4th of July weekend!!!
